Ageratum Seeds 'Red Sea'
- Deep purple-red fluffy flowers
- Very popular with pollinators
- Flowers for months in summer
- Ideal for cutting
Half-hardy annual Ageratum ‘Red Sea’ is a superb border-filler in summer, with bright red fluffy flowers that darken to a striking deep purple-red. Held on tall stems, they’re very popular with pollinators and ideal for cutting. Ageratum ‘Red Sea’ flowers from mid-summer into early autumn, adding colour and life to sunny borders.
Sow indoors
Almost fill a seed tray with moist seed compost. Sow seeds thinly over the surface, and lightly cover them with a little more compost. Place in the warmth, 15-20°C and keep moist.
Grow on
Keep seedlings in a light position, but shade from direct sunlight. When large enough to handle, transplant 5cm apart into trays of potting compost.
Harden off/plant out
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2-3 weeks before planting out when danger of frost has passed. Allow 25cm between plants.
Aftercare
Remove faded flowers during summer to prolong blooming.
