Calendula Seeds 'Oopsy Daisy'

Calendula Seeds 'Oopsy Daisy'

  • Hardy annual
  • Bushy plants, covered in flowers
  • Compact height, for pots and borders
  • Charming orange and cream bicolour flowers that are edible too

Sowing Indoors

For earlier flowering, sturdier plants, sow in trays of moist seed compost, lightly covering with a little more compost and keep in gentle warmth, 10-15°C.

Growing On

Plant 5cm apart into trays of compost when seedlings are large enough to handle. Gradually accustom to cooler conditions before planting out from April onwards, allowing about 30cm between plants.

Sowing Outdoors

Rake soil to provide a firm, even surface. Sow seeds thinly in pre-watered soil, lightly covering them with a little more soil. Keep moist until seedlings appear and as required in dry spells. When large enough to handle, thin seedlings to allow their development and to prevent overcrowding.

Advice

Calendula petals are edible and make a colourful addition to salads.
