'Crataegus laevigata Paul’s Scarlet' is one of the most ornamental hawthorns you can grow, renowned for its masses of double, light-red flowers that open slightly earlier than most other varieties. A sport of 'Rosea Flore Pleno', it has rightly earned the RHS Recommended: Award of Garden Merit for its reliability, beauty and all-round garden performance.

Through summer, the tree carries deeply lobed green leaves on strong, thorny branches, before producing clusters of bright red berries in autumn which attract birds and pollinators. Tough, hardy and tolerant of urban, coastal and exposed conditions, it makes an elegant specimen or a characterful addition to a mixed boundary hedge.
