Heuchera Seeds 'Melting Fire'
- Leaves change from bright red to maroon as they mature
- Tall sprays of white flowers in summer
- Low-maintenance perennial
- Excellent groundcover plant
Heuchera ‘Melting Fire’ glows with colour all year, with flame-red new leaves darkening to deep maroon as they mature. Sprays of white flowers on dark red stems appear in summer above the heavily ruffled foliage. This striking low-maintenance perennial is ideal as evergreen groundcover, and also looks good in a container.
Sow indoors
Sow on the surface of pre-watered seed compost, in pots or trays, lightly pressing into the surface. Place in a propagator or bag at around 20°C (68F) in shade and allow 2-6 weeks for germination. Remove lid or bag and keep in cooler, brighter conditions after germination.
Grow on
Transplant when seedlings are large enough to handle. Grow on in a sheltered spot outdoors, such as a cold frame or unheated greenhouse.
Plant out
Plant out in full sun or partial shade in well-drained soil and water in well.
Aftercare
Deadhead to prolong the flowering period- this may produce a second flush later in summer. Clumps maybe divided in autumn every 3 years.
