This spectacular salvia is a real showstopper, producing rich, velvety purple blooms that emerge from striking near-black buds. Early to flower and wonderfully free-flowering, it delivers months of colour and adds a luxurious feel to patios, borders and flowerbeds. The dramatic contrast makes it especially effective when planted en masse or paired with lighter-toned plants.

For maximum impact, plant two young plants into a 30cm container, or use at the front of borders where the colour can really shine. Several pots grouped together create an eye-catching display with very little effort. Grow in quality bedding compost when planting in containers, or enrich garden soil with added compost for best results. Space plants around 30cm apart in beds to allow them to thrive.
