Spring Onion Seeds 'Ishikura'

Spring Onion Seeds 'Ishikura'

  • Forms clumps of long white stems
  • Excellent mild flavour
  • Doesn’t form bulbs
  • Ideal for salads and stir-fries

Spring Onion ‘Ishikura’ forms clumps of long white stems with short green tops and a mild flavour. It can be harvested young at pencil-thickness, or left to mature, and is ideal for salads and stir-fries. ‘Ishikura’ has a long harvest period without the need for successional sowing.

Sow outdoors

March-July: Sow thinly 1cm (1/2in) deep and in rows 20cm (8in) apart directly in harvest location. Keep soil moist at all times until seedlings are established.

Tips

No need to thin, just pull when onions are young and slender. Sow little and often for continuous supply. Spring onions perform well in containers and are quick to crop. September sowings can be overwintered.
